Supposing you increased the pressure of the air above the boiling liquid. What would happen to the boiling point of the water?
the boiling point would rise. water boils at 100*C at 14.69 psi.
what is sublimation?
sublimation is the act of a solid changing immediatley into a gas. this is not a common change. dry ice is one of them.
does water contract or expand on changing from a liquid to solid?
Water expands.
Why do icebergs float in antarctic and arctic waters? Do you think there is much of the iceberg under water or is it mostly above the water? How could you test your hypothesis?
They float becuase it is a solid and they are lighter than water. 9/10 of the iceberg are underwater. You could test it in a glass of water
When you have a jar with a very tight lid, you can run it under hot water and it becomes easier to open. Why?
Because the solid expands as it gets hotter.
Colloids! a gel is a colloid where the liquid is held in the solid. shaving cream is a good example and so is whipped cream. (YUM!)
